What has been going on in Congress for the last year or so seems like a tennis game. The bill bounces from the House to the Senate back to conference: to the House, the Senate, amendments get added; The bill becomes part of different comprehensive legislation. Sometimes it is hard to follow the bouncing bill. And sometimes it is hard to keep score as well.
The Senate has an opportunity to make history today. It needs an ace to win for the American people. I feel good that the Senate will deliver that ace. Then again the president needs to sign the bill into law. First things first.
America is hurting. America needs help. Now the comprehensive housing and foreclosure legislation will help. It may only be a first step. It may even help people who shouldn’t be helped. Sometimes this is an unintended consequence of legislation. However, it will help those that are barely keeping their heads above water. (Some got themselves into a jam because of stupidity, some because of ignorance and others are victims of circumstance)
As for our elders, higher limits would deliver additional equity that could be converted into funds. We owe them that much. So let’s stop the insidious perpetual campaigning and do the people’s business.
The last time I looked, a particular document began with , WE THE PEOPLE.....And here is the serve.....It is an Ace.
Point. Set. Match. America and America's Seniors win.
At least I hope it turns out this way.
